If libraries/bookstores have many Christian books,then why haven't many Christians read the whole bible?

The bible is just very dense reading and people like the abridged version. An added bonus of these abridged versions is that they can tweak and twist the bible into saying whatever you want it to say, so it's more fun to read and validating for whatever your lifestyle may be.



Kings have done it, monks have done it, now authors and their editors are doing it.If libraries/bookstores have many Christian books,then why haven't many Christians read the whole bible?
alot have read the bible or atleast a portion of it. Its hard to read all those pages. I have read some christian books though and Alot of them are really goodIf libraries/bookstores have many Christian books,then why haven't many Christians read the whole bible?
Because the truth is, while many Christians say they love the bible, it is very long and boring and contradicts itself. Todays Christian has a short attention span and can easily find God in the 'Left Behind' series.If libraries/bookstores have many Christian books,then why haven't many Christians read the whole bible?
Reading directly the bible will make you interpret what you read, and if you are not trained to do this, you will end up with your own personal truth that is contrary to the divine revelations as taught by the church. The other christian books are written by theologians who have spent all of their lives in the study of the bible from its original language in hebrew and greek, and less subject to translation errors.
Only God can reveal the meaning of his word, the bible. So if we want to know the truth we must ask God to show us meanings and give us understanding or we just guess.

If I wanted to know something written is spanish, I would go to someone that speaks spanish and ask them what it means so that I may understand what it says. Or I could look at it, not understanding, then say it means this or that: not knowing spanish, I could try to make it mean whatever i wanted, though this would not be the right interpretation. Many do this with the bible, it is God's word and only God can tell us the meaning of things and give us understanding too. Or we just guess or make something up. So go to God and ask him directly for the truth of his word.
