Why did the Christian community turn their backs on King's X?

King's X are a secular band who, while they often write music inspired by biblical passages and figures, have never claimed to be a Christian band. Their lyrics, however, led many to believe that they were, and their music was often sold in Christian bookstores.

In 1998, lead singer Doug Pinnick came out as being gay, and almost immediately those same Christian bookstores that supported King's X removed their music from the shelves. Their music nor their message changed at all. The only difference is that a band member's sexuality was revealed to the world.

Why would Christian retailers support a band they thought MIGHT be Christian, but when they found out that one member of the band is DEFINITELY gay, they disown the band entirely? Why did the Christian community turn their backs on King's X?
good question. i have one of their ablums - lol i mean cd's - dam i'm old - never really listened to it much, but it was alright

but the funny part about that was that the entire time the christian stores supported him, he was gay! it's not like he suddenly became gay and they took the music off the shelf, he was always gayWhy did the Christian community turn their backs on King's X?
Yet they'll hide child molesters in another parrish without a second thought. Why did the Christian community turn their backs on King's X?
Maybe they decided not to support something they disagreed with?Maybe they would not of supported the band if the singer had been straight(i mean truthfull)about his sexual prefference earlier.I have sacked gays in the past when it has been found out that they lied about their sexual orientation in an interveiw
Jesus told his followers never to judge. the christians do judge . kings x sing music that the christians dont like, but they couldnt tell the truth about it , so when they found out that the leadsinger was gay they used that as an excuse
