Do you find you are able to make profit month to month?
There is just one store in my area, which caters to English speakers only. My thoughts are to cater to all primary / popular languages. Is this a good idea and would I be able to live off the business?
I was in a serious car accident 8 months ago and I am doing much better. I am back to work but mind is not at work but my thoughts are to open a small business. I think this will help me with time and will also serve the community.
What are your thoughts?Small business a religious bookstore?
I have and old friend that has owned and operated a small Christian bookstore for 30+ years. There was a time when she made a reasonable income. With the internet and the cheaper prices one is able to pay my friend is sinking fast. Book sales as a whole are declining. I understand your desire to serve the community but I would advise against this move.
As an alternative you might consider providing an online bookstore. This way you serve the world not just your community. It will save you a lot of money vs. paying commercial retail rents and the start up costs will be significantly less.
Before you jump into this check out what is selling in the marketplace today. Many publishers will provide some sales info regarding a particular book. See how many are beingSmall business a religious bookstore?
you need to do some market research to see the need for a business as you are suggesting
I have known of some around my area, they come and go, but it doesn't seem that they have been overly successful
so much religious material is available on the internet, a local store has a hard time competing
