What is a good secular movie with a christian message?

I lead a youth group for my church and we have a movie night every month. We've already done Narnia and Lord of the Rings. What is another good secular type movie that has a christian message or christian values, that is not labeled as a "religious" movie, such as you would find at a christian bookstore.What is a good secular movie with a christian message?
I know this is a Christian movie, but Facing the Giants is done much like a typical hollywood style secular movie (it isn't cheesy, amateur, or blatant in hitting you over the head with the Gospel) and it is awesome!!

"Philadelphia" and "And the Band Played On" have some great examples of homophobia, which I know is something Christianity loves to reinforce in people. Make sure you push the anti-semitism too with something like "Schindler's List".
Star Wars. Luke is a Christlike figure, as are Ben Kenobi, Han Solo, and the other "good" guys. The Emperor and Darth Vader, and the others are the forces of satan. The struggle between good and evil plays out.

The Green Mile. It is secretly about Jesus. Think about it, you have two ethnic groups in a stratified society, only instead of Romans and Jews, it is whites and African Americans. A man with the initials "J.C." is from the less well off ethnic groups, is very gentle, and has amazing healing powers. He is also put to death, despite being innocent. Even the men who took part in his execution came to believe in his greatness. I'm serious, the Green Mile is loosely based on the gospels.



I'm not sure you can take kids to see it though (i.e. what is the age range of this youth group?).
The Spider-man movies are packed with Christian values and lessons! Also Superman returns!! If you dig far, Pirates of the Caribbean 1 %26amp; 2 have a lot of good stuff as well, but I wouldn't try with Pirates 3.
Polar Express
'Walking Across Egypt', with Jonathan Taylor Thomas. You will be greatly touched by the redemptive love, depicted in this film.
None of these are perfect examples of Christian values, but they have good values or imagery, and not a lot (if any)swearing. No nudity that I remember, no sex scenes for sure.



The first Matrix movie is filled with Easter imagery.

The Pursuit of Happiness and To Kill a Mockingbird show the importance of family.

Schindler's List, Life is Beautiful, Hotel Rwanda all show great contrast between good people standing in an evil time, but may be a bit disturbing for a youth group. High school okay Jr-high probably not. I think there's some nudity in Schindler's List.

Silverado shows friendship, family and standing up for right. (a young Kevin Costner's character likes to fool around with girls in this one, but they never show anything and it always gets him into trouble)

Chariots of fire has a strong Christian character.
Why are you showing secular things in a church? Secular things cannot have a christian message. And if you think that Lord of the rings does you are crazy. What christian movies in the church not secular. Don't bring secularism into to your church because if your church will become world centered instead of Christ centered.

Matrix, the first one only, really demonstrates what

living without the Lord vs. with the Lord is like - spiritually

alive vs. spiritually dead. I know it is mixed with

Eastern philosophy as well, especially the 2nd and even

more so the 3rd film, but the first one I watched over

and over - a LOT of spiritual parallels in it - even the three

main characters and how they are similar to the Trinity

and what each one does. I think it was intentional for

sure!
