Are Christians willing to accept any answer as long as it's an answer?

... I was talking to a guy the other day, who happened to be a fundamentalist christian. 'twas in the bookstore, in the astronomy section. to make a long story short, we got into a convo about how the stars tell the story of the history of the universe, and he told me that the bible told the story of the universe. yes, this man actually said this.

so, to rebutt, i told him that it said absolutely nothing about how the universe was formed. he replied, ''au contraire, God spoke, and the universe came into existence." ok, so he didn't actually say '''au contraire'', but whatever. behooven, i decided that he was going down a path of debate i wasn't prepared to go down because i already wanted to shake this little man, and none of the reason i would have imparted upon him was going to make any difference.

but, i did learn one important lesson. that is, people are impatient, they want answers. they don't want to read books all day long and study biology and chemistry for years. they want somebody else to tell them something, any old thing to answer their questions.

there is so much scientific research and study that has gone on for the past two thousand years for us to arrive at the point we are now. and people want to throw away the sacrifice that countless men and women have given their lives to answer a question.

And now that those important questions are being answered in the days in which we live. people want to ignore scientific investigation, pretend it doesn't provide truth and call it evil, when what it's doing IS providing an answer to those important questions.

thoughts?

yes, i am aware that not all christians believe this, but this is for those who do.Are Christians willing to accept any answer as long as it's an answer?
Oh, no. It has to be THE answer: "Gawddidit."
Seems to me there are all kinds of people who willingly accept answers without asking even one question.

I also want to mention that I like your style of writing. Not only is it informative, it's entertaining. You should consider a career in creative writing. Are Christians willing to accept any answer as long as it's an answer?
Um, if you are referring to what science has proven about God, then please post your proof and exactly what you are talking about above that we Christians can't accept.

No matter how much atheists want to arrogantly post their diluted insults against Christians there is NO evidence. Therefore it is all a matter of faith on all sides. Everything an atheists says can be flipped back at them. There is NO difference.

typical atheists response whose answers change from ? to ?. You my friend mentioned scientific research and how people want to throw it away. "What" is this research you are insinuating as you also mention that most fundamentalist ignore.

You keep mentioning evidence I am asking what evidence you are talking about? Remember, theories are just theories and NOT facts. anyone can have theories but proving those theories are something completely different.
well science can prove there is a God who has created it,. but most people dont want to look at that evidence. but there is plenty of proof, and i would type for days and prove it but dont really feel like typing that much. u have a question pm me.Are Christians willing to accept any answer as long as it's an answer?
Well Consider this

Christians only accept the answer of the Lord Almighty. For in His love we find the truth, love, and mercy.
Congrads on not really shaking him, that would have shown quite a bit of impatience.

Now you can let go of the desire.

That would be the Christian thing to do.

EDIT..we see in others what we can't yet see in ourselves.

Judge not, or we will be judged(we will judge ourselves)

you are welcome
we need professional summarizers
As long as the answer sucks up to their deity.
Your overall question is a nice way to sum things up... I agree.
yes we will accept your opinion...thats it.
What is worse, they can change the answers whenever it suits their cause or agenda and accept the new answers just as easily as the old ones.

For centuries the Dante-esque version of hell has been what people envision when they imagine eternal torment. But lately people are coming to realize that the kind of hell Dante delineated in his Inferno makes the "loving" Christian god look more like a Hitler than a hippie. And it doesn't help Christians fill their recruitment quotas either. So they are now saying that Dante's hell is not accurate according to Biblical passages describing the place. Instead they say that hell is a place where our spirits are furthest from god. This vague definition is all they can come up with for now, but one can rest assured that they will be building on it in the years and decades to come.

Who knows: in a hundred years, in order to attract new paying customers to keep their organization alive and running, hell may be a place that lacks premium cable and a fast Internet connection (Oh no, you won't have HBO or Showtime. You'll have to watch all the bowdlerized movies that run on TBS and AMC).
We want answers to thing that we are not entitled to know. All that is needed to know is you have been given the gift of eternal life, and in this world you are here for a purpose. Not to know how the black hole is created, or how planets are born. by faith we believe in the word of God, and this is wll that is needed. If anything more is needed by faith you will receive it.

We strive too much to be like Gods, knowing things that even if we uncovered, we have not the power to change one iota of this universe.
i think most christians are in a place where they feel that when god spoke...stuff didn't just appear out of thin air. it's like a painting...let's say god wanted to paint a landscape. some people think he just waved his hand over the canvas and suddenly there appeared a painted landscape. other people, i think the vast majority, think that god picked up a paintbrush and painted that landscape onto the canvas.

it's similar to the concept of intelligent design. evolution occurred in the way that god wanted it to. god made natures choices to get the results he was after.

there IS a way to reconcile science and religion...but some people choose to believe ALL science or ALL religion. i'm married to a scientist who DOESN'T believe in a higher power...but he also acknowledges that it can't be proven one way or the other using science.
1. Knowledge is found both in objective empirical science and the teaching of the holy masters.

It would be senseless not to use the timeless wisdom of the cosmic and natural classroom to our advantage and, combining the outer observations of science with the inner discernment of the great spiritual truths extolled by the great religious teachers of the ages, show the inner redemptive truth found in all the world's great Faiths. furthermore,, Religion needs science to help keep it from the dark past of superstition and ignorance while religion guides us in the application and use of new technologies. Religion reminds us creation is God's and science is but a gift of the intellect as created by God to be used for the benefit of all.
