Used to - you couldn't find but a little section of the library or bookstore with books that were skeptical of Christianity, you had the Waltons, Little House, Andy Grifith with little to show in the way of anti-religious programming, but no longer, in just a few years, books by scholars are flooding the stores claiming Jesus never existed! I saw a book today claiming MOSES never existed, these were serious books with highly educated authors. Atheists are now the majority in Britain and the numbers are changing fast all over the world. Renowned pastors are falling into sin, mother Theresa even doubted if Jesus was real, and Richard Dawkins is putting his challengers to silence.
Is this the "falling away" that the Bible warns about, or is this just the advent of the "Next Age," where reason will take over faith?Jesus is shrinking! What do we do?
What can I say, the intelligence and common sense are finally prevailing in this poor confused world? Becoming an atheist, turning away from such an institution of lies and deceit, is just a first step.
kill yourselfJesus is shrinking! What do we do?
And the global IQ is going up. Who knew?
what can we do?
nothing
good riddanceJesus is shrinking! What do we do?
Maybe it's because education is more common these days and people are starting to think for themselves. Religion is more popular in areas and times where people don't know much about science.
And this is a problem how?
It is definitely the latter and it's about bloody time. It will take a long time to accomplish but it is the only way to move forward as a species if we are to survive.
He's shrinking? Put him in the taffy-pulling machine. It worked on that kid in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
not only Jesus is shrinking, Muhammad Buddha and Shiva and other Gods are!! just stick close to your faith and you'll be fine
Mother Theresa doubted that Jesus was real???
Its all good, even though it comes to a point that only 1 person left in the world belives in him he will still live on. I belive in him and no amount of scientific evidence will sway me, it will make me think about it yeah but the fact stays that even if he was never real his teachings made me into a better person and are just there to help us be better to each other and help our fellow man. honestly whats wrong with that? I don't get why atheists trash people who belive god.
As time goes on, average intelligence shall grow...
And, who knew? It happened. Face it, Atheists will one day rule the earth because one day, science will explain almost everything we wanted to know.
So... what should YOU do? You could follow my example and sit back, watching with a huge smile on my face, or you can go running around in a panic like a chicken with its head cut off. Your choice, really.
Gods were invented by man, in a desperate attempt to explain what was once unexplainable... things like the sun, moon, and stars... day and night... thunder and lightening... sickness and death... etc... and to answer questions that were once unanswerable... vital, profound, important questions like "Daddy... what holds the sky up?"
For all of these questions, the delusion "God did it" (the ILLUSION of knowledge) has been replaced by REAL knowledge... and as a result, this 'god' has been reduced from an all-powerful supernatural being to a 'God of the Gaps'... an imaginary cockroach-like creature that scurries from crack-to-crevice, looking for the remaining patches of darkness and shadow in mankind's '"knowledge-base", so as to cower and hide from the glaring light of knowledge and understanding.
The fact that people continue to cling to this pitiable, delusional 'god' idea is a pathetic disgrace, to say the least... and I am inclined to add 'tragic' to that, as well... a testament to the enduring power of gullibility, irrationality, willful ignorance, self-delusion, intellectual dishonesty, hypocrisy and drooling stupidity.
Yet today, we find stalwart defenders of these insane delusions fighting a desperate battle to stave of knowledge and understanding, trying to shield the dark cracks and crevices of ignorance from the light of reason... crying "No... no... that ain't so... God did it... God did it."
Think about this... SERIOUSLY... Christians BELIEVE... as in the 'absolute TRUTH'... that a (fictional) cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake with legs, to eat from a magical tree... (etc.)... and that there is something horribly wrong with people who ARE NOT so gullible and droolingly stupid as to believe such outrageously ridiculous codswallop.
C'mon now... say it... you can do it... with me, now... "THAT'S CRAZY."
.
This true, they persecuted Jesus, they will persecute you and yes we are in our last days as the bible states. There is going to be a great falling away from the churches, because all of those mega churches are preaching false doctrine. When Jesus returns he states will there be faith. He is returning with a sword and is going to kick a ss. Billions of people will be squished.
DO THE WILL OF GOD
You need to find a home church, be obedient, follow his word, be baptized with the holy spirit, show your self approved and do the will of God (Mark 16: 15 - 18)
Well...all I can tell you is....if you are a believer in Jesus and God...don't doubt your faith..
My grandma used to say..."I'd rather live my life thinking there is a God and finding out there isn't one when I die, than living my life thinking there ISN'T a God and finding out he's real when I die". Or something like that.
I think it's a reponse to several things.
- Certainly, we're living in an age of science and reason, which leads many to see religion and science as incompatable.
- Furthermore, the ease of travel and communications has opened the door for competing theologies, whereas 100 years ago, someone might never have been exposed to any other school of thought.
- The western concept of religious freedom makes competing religions (or lack thereof) an option for some.
However, all in all, I think Christianity is seeing an upswing in the face of fundamentalists who see these as the end days.
I've noticed it, too.
I was just today explaining to my son why he could watch Star Wars (the real first one from 1977), but couldn't watch the PG movies of today. The standards have changed... There are no, zero, curse words in Star Wars. There is no nudity, or overtly sexual... Well ANYTHING. There is no blood, maybe a smidge...
My point is a PG movie by today's standards is filled with all kinds of sexual innuendo, cussing, and gore. It wasn't the case when I was my son's age. And it seems to be getting worse, exponentially.
And yes, people seem to be forgetting Jesus.
It's sad, but we were told that this was coming. Revival is also on its way, too though.
This is the dawning, not of global atheism, but of the new age of understanding. I am proud to be part of it. There are new teachers here now. Not teaching Jesus was a fraud, because he wasn't, but reviving what the actual message of Jesus was. People are beginning to realize that there is something wrong with religions based on really old books that we know have been tampered with (Bible basically rewritten by Constantine). There is something wrong with books that teach God as a jealous and wrathful, cruel parent who will burn you forever simply for not knowing the rules or slipping up somehow. In the next age, people will know that God is real, but that we are all extensions of the Source. God loves us all equally, those who are bad and those who are good. Our only obligation is to find happiness joy and above all Love, because we were created in Love and God seeks only Love. When we drop all of this competing to be Gods special pet and start co-creating better things for everyone, then we will truly understand the heart of God and the new age can begin. It will be glorious.
no it's the usual stuff we heard even before. Haven't you heard about a declaration of an END OF THE WORLD! It Was LOUD THAT TIME AND IT DIDN'T HAPPENED. We pray and do the right thing not because the bible told us but simply because it is the right thing to do. faith is believing but that is not enough we must act accordingly to what we believe. and not to what other said. if we are to listen, would you listen to them or to GOD, thru his blessing and protection to us. God is alive He is around us everyday loving us and helping us. let's give back to Him with love and obedience.
If you want to be surrounded by christians, christian books and things, come to arkansas we have plenty of christians, christian book stores, huge sections on christianity. There are entire stretches of road that are nothing but christian churches, and in the major cities there is at least 1 or 2 mega churches that can be seen from space. So come on down, you are the next contestant on the Bible Belt.
I too have seen a HUGE shift in our culture. There are barely any representations of Christianity in mainstream movies, books, television, music. Yet there is this fear that some sort of radical theocracy is going to be hatched. Not a chance. The bible is clear what is to happen in the beginning of the end and we are seeing prophesy fufilled right before our eyes.
Yep, it's a sign that the end of the world is coming. Since this is just like all the other end-of-the-world signs that have happened over the last 3000+ years, i'm not worried.
No, its just that with all the resources available today, people are finally realizing what a load of horse pucky it all really is. I wish you were right, it would give me faith in humanity again. But somehow i doubt it will ever fully dissolve into the history books, under "worlds biggest hoax".
Don't worry. Once Global Warming kicks in and civilisation crumbles, all the religions will come roaring back to explain God's Wrath, and burn the atheist infidel along with their science and technology that caused the disaster.
That is nothing to worry about. I see it as a sign of progress and more open debate about religions. Nobody is in favor of banning free practice of religion...well, except some radical Muslims and maybe some Christians who do not support any separation between church and state. But otherwise, you're fine.
As for the issue of Moses, there is no evidence for slavery in Egypt (Exodus), so why is it a problem to engage in scholarly debate?
people are starting to think for themselves
Wash him in hot water?
If Jesus is shrinking then here's what you do. Just have faith in God, and start shrinking too.
