Atheists, why do you mention....?

..... how Christians are constantly disobeying what the Old Testament says is a sin?

Hello? There's a REASON why it's called the OLD Testament. It's in the past. We don't follow it anymore except for the parts that we still follow.

The reason why we don't need it is because Jesus died for our sins, so we're covered and DON'T think we don't appreciate this.

Just today, I went to a bookstore and I ran into another Christian that was also buying some stuff and we both got on our knees and prayed and thanked God for not killing us because we broke the sabbath.

It used to be okay to kill people for doing that, but God is so full of love that he came up with the PERFECT system of justice. Basically, it goes like this:

If you happened to be born before Jesus and you work on the sabbath, you die. If you are born after that, you get to live.

Just think about how many hundreds of millions of Christians AT LEAST would be dead if that commandment was still valid.|||"We don't follow it anymore except for the parts that we still follow."

Classic ;-)|||So, homosexuality is not a sin, then.

Stop saying it's a sin.|||R u trying to convince us or yourself?|||then its not a sin to be gay?????? thats in the old testament.........so can gays get married?????|||What did they use on you, Tide, Dawn or Ivory?

They didn't rinse well enough. You still have suds behind your ears.|||"We don't follow it anymore except for the parts that we still follow."

That says everything about it that needs to be said....|||Ha ha, don't follow it except for the parts that you do follow. How contradictory is that?

I do think that many Christians appreciate Jesus' 'sacrifice'. I don't think your covered though, I still think you are responsible for your actions.

As well, it is far from a perfect system of justice, the NT is guilty as well of horrid and ridiculous acts.|||No. I still don't get why you believe in god. It's ridiculous.|||"We don't follow it anymore except for the parts that we still follow." This is CLASSIC!!!!! And you think you are logical!! Hahahahaha!!|||"Just think about how many hundreds of millions of Christians AT LEAST would be dead if that commandment was still valid."

--Why would he make it in the first place?

"Okay, now that it has been logically explained to you, do you understand why we behave the way we do, atheists?"

--I don't think I ever will.|||Hey, where is Bo and Luke.

Where in the hell is Daisy duke.

Them Duke boys of Hazard county always seem to get into trouble.|||So an omnipotent, omniscient god wrote stuff that he was later going to decide to ignore. That is ridiculous as fxck. goddamn you people are crazy.|||Christian, you've got it backwards. The OT outlines the ultimate penalties for crimes. It's up to courts to determine the actual penalty.

Christian, your entire Bible was created by people who had an agenda. They wanted to make the OT seem cruel and obsolete to appeal to pagans and to make it seem like everybody needs Jesus, when in fact the laws applied to Jews.

Christian, why do you get to break the Sabbath without dying but gays are going to die for their "sins"?

Christian, I hope you see why you are wrong now, okay? But of course you won't be able to.|||Simple quetion in return. Do you follow the Ten Commandments?

If yes, you are bound by the law

If no, then you probably follow Jesus' two commandments that were meant to superced the original ten.

I suggest looking them up, they can be found in Matthew, and don't allow for the bigotry that occurs within religious organizations today.|||No, I still don't understand.

How come you are allowed to pick and choose what you like from "God's Law"?

I don't care about the Sabbath. What about being able to stone adulterers? Kill your children for talking back? How come we don't do that anymore?

Oh, that's right. Even believers don't really care what the Bible says anymore!|||If God's word is perfect and absolute, why does it need revision (ie. new testament)????|||I thought the bible was gods word old or new testament? So should you listen to all of it if you believe in him?|||WOW, how is any of this logical? You're just another sheep.|||Yeah I understand now. It still doesn't cease to amaze me that the christian god just obliterated millions of people on a whim based on really ridiculous circumstances. "oh that was back in the OLD days". Alright...|||Im going to question what you say by using quotes

"There's a REASON why it's called the OLD Testament. It's in the past. We don't follow it anymore except for the parts that we still follow." Its in the PAST!? SO IS THE NEW TESTAMENT!. And the fact you dont follow it, except for the parts you do follow, that makes so much since....\

"If you happened to be born before Jesus and you work on the sabbath, you die. If you are born after that, you get to live."- I some how think everyone here can be safe for the soul fact of its the year 2008 AD !!!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS WHY US ATHIEST FREAK OUT ON CHRISTIANS BECAUSE THEY MAKE NO SINCE!!!!!!!

I really want to punch babies after reading that.|||Your still deluded.. but hey as long as your not harmless, i dont care.|||Why do you make such a big to do about sinning if Jesus died on the cross for our sins?

Doesn't make sense.

Very contradictory.

It is kind of like getting a new pair of shoes, you never wear them because you are afraid they will get worn out.

Well just go buy a new pair, or clean them..

Same with sinning, sin, than pray.

And than you are good.

All is said, all is done.|||"We don't follow it anymore except for the parts that we still follow"

That has to be the funniest thing I have seen in here.

Have a star,I want all my contacts to see this one.|||C'mon, guys, don't you recognize satire?|||I like your satire but I'll still have my say...

If Christians don't follow the OT anymore then why are Creationists and New Earth Creationists so vocal and certain that their fundamentalist view is the correct view.

Yoo really can't have it both ways.|||That's satire right?

funny!|||You are contradicting your self..

we follow

we don´t follow OT

you got it cleared for your self, then ok.|||Well do you know what is the coolest thing?

You won't die now for breaking the Sabbath. Let's see what commandments there are that you WILL die for, and test them out.

I'm pretty sure there are people still well and truly alive, and have broke every single one of them.

Does that mean that all these commandments are now defunct and we can all go home now?

Jesus said 'do unto others as you will have done unto yourself'

I have yet to see thousands of Christians being burned to death for being 'evil', which I think is pretty clear evidence that, if whole societies were to be judged on their actions, it is the Christians who were listening the least.

I rest my case.

((((hugs))))

EDIT: I know some people follow ALL of it. They are scary individuals indeed.|||"We don't follow it anymore except for the parts that we still follow."

That sums it up perfectly.|||Because I truly fail in the design behind the cherry picking that's done and the fact that Christians don't reject the OT!

When they reject the OT then it will be much clearer for everyone.

Sorry for being blunt, but a spade is a spade, as they say where I come from!!!|||Well, first of all, let me compliment you on your beautiful trollwork. ;o)

I agree that there's a lot of misunderstanding, and many Christians try to hold on to both laws. I guess they haven't read Hebrews.

The OT served its purpose in bringing the Messiah. That was its entire purpose. The Messiah has come. No more need for the old law. There's value in studying it to put Jesus in context so that we more fully understand the significance of His life and His sacrifice. But the OT laws ended at the end of the gospels. We're not bound to any of it any more.

It is true that most of the 10 commandments (9) are reiterated and expounded upon in the NT, and we're still bound to those. Keeping the Sabbath (7th day - Saturday) is not one we are still bound to.

Still, I admire your creativity.
