When I go into a Christian bookstore,
and look for a book by a particular author,
I sometimes find their books in a section
called "Apologetics."
Why?What does "apologetics" mean?
From the Greek word "apologia" = To give a defense
Trying to recconcile the Bible to reality. What does "apologetics" mean?
It means those who write in defense of something, I believe. In this case, one who writes in defense of Christianity.
Hannah J Paul
Dictionary definition is:
Apologists are authors, writers, editors of scientific logs or academic journals, and leaders known for taking on the points in arguments, conflicts or positions that are either placed under popular scrutinies or viewed under persecutory examinations. What does "apologetics" mean?
"Apologetics" is the rhetoric of defense.
Christian apologetics is simply presenting a reasonable defense of the Christian faith and Christian truth to those whom disagree. Christian apologetics is a necessary aspect of our Christian life. We are all commanded to be ready and equipped to proclaim the Gospel and defend our faith (Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Peter 3:15). That is the essence of Christian apologetics.
