Christians have the Bible, Muslims have the Qu'ran, what do Buddhists have?

I often hear about Buddhist dharma (I know dharma is an overlapping term that deals with other religions like hinduism, etc.), but how exactly is it dealt out and how can I gain access to it? Did the Buddha write anything himself? Can I walk into a bookstore and pick it up or what?Christians have the Bible, Muslims have the Qu'ran, what do Buddhists have?
Pāli Tipitaka %26amp; Mahayana Sutras are the categories of texts, but there are many within.

sutras (i.e. discourses)

vinaya (relating to the rules of monastic discipline)

abhidharma (analytical texts)

Together these three make up what is known in Sanskrit as the Tripitaka and in Pali as the Tipitaka.

As mentioned before though, each category has many texts. For example there are about 42 sutras

i am pretty sure they have a book that outlines the beliefs and stories of there religion. although they probably don't see it as a holy book like christians and muslims but just a book that tells them about there religion
Buddhists' Religious Texts exist ATLEAST 1000 years before Bible and ATLEAST 1600 years before Quran--10 to 16 centuriesbefore--FAIRLY a LONG Period.Christians have the Bible, Muslims have the Qu'ran, what do Buddhists have?

Dharmapada is the name of the book of Lord Buddha's teachings.
More sacred books than you can shake a stick at.
A bit more common sense.
Schools of thought and their principles in the right place :)
religion doesn't require a book
No, they have a different sort of thing. Wikipedia:

Buddhism (Pali/Sanskrit: ????? ???? Buddha Dharma) is a religion and philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices, largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha (Pāli/Sanskrit "the awakened one"). The Buddha lived and taught in the northeastern Indian subcontinent some time between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE.[2] He is recognized by Buddhists as an awakened or enlightened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end suffering (or dukkha), achieve nirvana, and escape what is seen as a cycle of suffering and rebirth.

Two major branches of Buddhism are recognized: Theravada ("The School of the Elders") and Mahayana ("The Great Vehicle"). Theravada—the oldest surviving branch—has a widespread following in Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, and Mahayana is found throughout East Asia and includes the traditions of Pure Land, Zen, Nichiren Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Shingon, Tendai and Shinnyo-en. In some classifications Vajrayana—a subcategory of Mahayana practiced in Tibet and Mongolia—is recognized as a third branch. While Buddhism remains most popular within Asia, both branches are now found throughout the world. Estimates of Buddhists worldwide vary significantly depending on the way Buddhist adherence is defined. Lower estimates are between 350-500 million.[3] However, when including Chinese religion which has traditionally consisted of forms of Mahayana Buddhism alongside Chinese folk religion the number would range from 1—1.6 billion.[4][5][6][7]

Buddhist schools vary on the exact nature of the path to liberation, the importance and canonicity of various teachings and scriptures, and especially their respective practices.[8] The foundations of Buddhist tradition and practice are the Three Jewels: the Buddha, the Dharma (the teachings), and the Sangha (the community).[9][10] Taking "refuge in the triple gem" has traditionally been a declaration and commitment to being on the Buddhist path and in general distinguishes a Buddhist from a non-Buddhist.[11] Other practices may include following ethical precepts, support of the monastic community, renouncing conventional living and becoming a monastic, the development of mindfulness and practice of meditation, cultivation of higher wisdom and discernment, study of scriptures, devotional practices, ceremonies, and in the Mahayana tradition, invocation of buddhas and bodhisattvas.
