Ok, so I work in a coffee shop which is inside of a large chain bookstore. There is a man who comes to the store almost every day. He sits in the cafe with a pile of religious books, things like Bibles and "The Case for Christ" and such. He has never bought anything, he just reads our books and sits at our tables. He has also been known to hit on young female employees and customers, often in a very skeevy way. Once, I was reading a book on Buddhism while on my break, sitting in the cafe eating my lunch, and he felt the need to come up to me and say "Jesus is the only real truth, you know." Then smile at me while his eyes roved up and down. Ew ew ew.
Since then, he tries to preach to me almost every time he sees me, while complimenting me on my "beautiful voice" (I sometimes sing to myself softly while I work). I told my manager, but they have been unable to catch him in the act, he always leaves when they approach.
What should I say to him to get him to leave me alone? What should I do about the creepy Christian man at my work?
tell him that you already choose your own way in religion, and if he insist to talk to you about religion, prepare a recorder so you will have a proof to be showed to your manager
If he's not buying anything tell your manager that he's back and won't leave. Have your manager invest in security cameras. that should help catch him. What should I do about the creepy Christian man at my work?
Wow that is very creepy. You did the right thing telling your manager but if he never catches him, maybe just confront him and threaten to call the police for harassment.
Rudely ignore him now. You've tried to be nice about it and he persists. He should stop if you ignore him long enough.
Technically he is a loiterer so you could have him removed legally.
Good luck.

Maybe you can try to record the conversation with a pocket recording machine to use as evidence, or you can just ignore the guy when he starts mocking you with his personal beliefs... I think the second alternative would be much easier... once you start not responding to his religious imposition, he may keep it up at first, but then he may learn that it's not working....
got to watch that one sounds kinds strange to me. ask your boss to have someone else to wait on him, maybe a guy and stay away from him as much as you can. I know that would be hard as you work in a coffee shop, just thinking about it gives me the creeps.
This sounds like a job for coastertoast.com

I resent the implication that creepiness is restricted to Christians.
I think the guy could just be creepy anyway.
Some people of other religions bomb buses.I would take the creepy guy any day.
Jesus is the only real truth because christianyty is his only book interested in. Tell him you are only interested in reading about Buddhism.
We have different interest. things that works only for us.
Tell him maybe you'll consider listening if he change his interest to that of yours. Righ now you have no plans to change. but you appreciate the gesture.
A difficult situation that needs to be nipped in the bud quickly.
Tell him that you find his talking to you both intimidating and threatening - hopefully he will go away!
Leave me alone, or I call the cops bible boy. Than you give yiour sermon to prison boys, while they are stuffing you
If he's been hitting on you, other employees and customers, then the manager should be informed (by all of you.) He is loitering, annoying people and not buying any product, so he should not be tolerated on the premises. Don't engage him in conversation because he wants a reaction and then he will keep pestering you. So, get the manager to do something, such as talking to the guy or calling the police or security people in the mall. Nobody should have to put up with that behaviour.
Tell him that, because he's not a customer, you don't have to be polite to him. Forcefully tell him it's against the rules at your work to have theological discussions, and that you refuse to speak to him about such things. Tell him that his personal beliefs, whatever they may be, don't matter at all to you.
And finally, remind him that if he doesn't keep his eyes above your jawline, you'll break his.
If he keeps bothering you, tell him you'll call the police for harassment.
it is called HR.......... troll
"I told my manager, but they have been unable to catch him in the act"...........that is the biggest load, they would tell you to go to HR right away if anyone is making you uncomfortable about anything
Unless you are working at some sweatshop
*im just letting you know how it would be handled in the real world*
