And I don't just mean the full frontal nudity in the Adam and Eve part. I mean Jacob being married to two sisters and their slaves, and Judah's daughter-in-law pretending to be a prostitute and him hiring her. What about the Israelites tricking the Shechemites into being circumcised and then attacking them "when they were sore" (34:25)?
And my personal favorite, Onan having sex with his sister-in-law and pulling out to avoid impregnating her! Wouldn't that make a classic scene?
Would Christians object to this? Would they protest the theaters showing it? Would Christian bookstores carry it? I mean, it's already in those Bible you encourage your kids to read, so would there be a problem? And what kind of rating would it get?If Genesis were made into a detailed, accurate movie, would Christians object to all the weird sexual stuff?
Isn't there also a story where two daughters get their father drunk and try to get pregnant by him?
It's the story of Lot, I think he's the guy who had his wife turned into a pillar of salt after excaping from Soddam and/or Gammorah (why are those two inextricably linked?)
I started reading the Bible for a bit and that was quite alarming!
lol at the Shechemites. If Genesis were made into a detailed, accurate movie, would Christians object to all the weird sexual stuff?
Don't forget Abraham passing Sarah off as his sister, and her being put into Pharoah's harem.
Good times.
No we would not object. We have no objection to people showing the truth, it's the lies we don't like.If Genesis were made into a detailed, accurate movie, would Christians object to all the weird sexual stuff?
Actually, the Onan bit is pretty much industry standard in one sector of the film industry. I think maybe they need to have Seymour Butts do the Torah portion.
We would, because you don't need to see the graphics of sex to know what it is. Keep in mind, Man was not judged for the sin which hadn't been instituted yet. Only after God gave Moses the Law that man started receiving judgment for sin..
They would faint dead away. Christians sneak around the sexuality issue. They are full of shame for themselves and their bodies. I think they think sex is actually sin. But they all do it. If you actually showed Christians in living color what they say they believe in, they would be horrified.
My favorites would be watching Adam attempting sex with all the "suitable helpers" that God first attempted to make for him.......and then the scene where the godly man Lot impregnates both of his daughters.....and they say Sodom and Gomorrah was deplorable....
Genesis 2: 18-22
18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
Genesis19: 36 So both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their father.
and don't stop at Genesis, Ezekiel 23:14-21 is pretty much like a porn movie.
As long as they were all over 18, and the script was true the The BIBLE, we could not really complain to much. It would be sad that the producers put the sex scenes in, because that would mean children could not watch it.
To state the obvious, yes, Christians would object to showing these stories in a graphic format.
Genesis contains written records of the historical events of ancient people, and there is no fault in transcribing history. But to show some of these accounts in a visual medium is something that Christians would object to.
