I just saw a segment on the news where a christian group is filming people going into an adult bookstore and saying they plan to post them on You tube. They're doing this to try and discourage business at this shop. But isn't it illegal to film someone and post the video in public view without the person's consent? Wouldn't this be considered libel?A local group is filming people?
Nope. They can to do it in public. But I say who cares. If they were filming me, I would wave and smile. Maybe a thumbs up.A local group is filming people?
It's perfectly legal to film anything that people do in places where they have no "reasonable expectation of privacy".
RichardA local group is filming people?
No, it is not illegal and it is not libel. (It is not libel because it is a truthful image - just people entering an adult store). The store may have a private cause of action against the christian group for interfering with commerce or interfering with the rights of others to contract. Quite frankly, I'd smile and waive at the camera. If I had anything to hide, I'd order my products online rather than going into a shop.
