How soon was Jesus supposed to come back to the earth?

I started reading the book of revelation and before I got deep into it I saw a verse that seemed as if Jesus was suppose to come close to when it was written. Here is the verse according to New International Version - UK

Revelation 1:7

7Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.

When I read this, I said wow. The people who pierced Jesus died almost 2000 years ago. If they see Jesus in the natural as this verse proclaims, then this literally means Jesus was suppose to come long ago. I know I will get responses saying that is something spiritual. All I have to say is prove it. I also remember reading something in the book of Matthews. Jesus told the people that this generation shall not pass until they see the son of man coming in the clouds. If I interpreted it correctly, Jesus was telling the people that they would personally see him coming in the clouds. If you need the first here it is.

Matthew 24:30-34 according to New International Version - UK

30"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.

31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

32"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.

33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[a]is near, right at the door.

34I tell you the truth, this generation[b] will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

I looked up generations in the strong’s concordance and the Latin word used is genea which means this age/generation. A lot of people say it also means race. It does mean race but not the human race. It refers to different races in people not as a whole. This is all according to the Strong’s Concordance I bought from the Christian Bookstore.

I don’t have enough space to write down everything in my mind. But with what I have given you, do you think Jesus’ time has passed do. Please provide evidence like I have provided to all answers. I want to learn as well. How soon was Jesus supposed to come back to the earth?
nobody knows when Jesus is going to come back...but..he will and..

I am going to tell you something....

The Bible says to tell the world about God. I may not be telling the world this, but I am going to tell the Answers Community.

John 3:16 (New International Version)

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What does that mean? I can tell you..

It means that if you don't accept Jesus as your Lord and savior, you will die. In Hell. In the lake of fire. But...if you do accept Jesus into your life, that means you will live forever in the best place ever. Heaven! Seeing is not believing. You can't see God here on Earth, but you can see the miracles he has given us. Everything around you is from him. Even YOU. God made you. It isn't enough to read the Bible to go to Heaven. It isn't enough to be nice to somebody to go to Heaven. You have to do your ABC's.

A: Admit that you are a sinner and have done wrong. You are not perfect.

B: Believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and he rose from the dead and he is God's son.

C: Confess your sins to God, and ask for forgiveness. He will forgive you. He has the power to forgive, unlike alot of humans.

If you have done your ABC's, then you are a citizen of Heaven, and a part of God's family. You may choose not to do this, but if you don't, I feel sorry for what you are missing out on. God accepts anybody, no matter how mean you are or if you're fat or skinny, goth, or something like that. God wants to be in your heart. Become a Christian. Today. If you don't accept God and Jesu into your heart, you will go to Hell. Don't put this off. You don't know wether or not you will die tomorrow. This is my motto:

"Love like you have never been hurt, because life is short, and every moment you are sad, angry, or upset...is a moment of happiness you could have had, and will never get back."

So...if you don't accept this gift that God has given us. I'm sorry, But...if you have and are a member of God's family...

see you in Heaven. :-)

Chronological Order of the End Times and the Current Events that Fulfill These Scriptures

The earthquake initiated tsunamis and famines are fulfilling Mat 24:7.

Mat 24:7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8 “But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.

We are the last generation as described Mat 24:32, that will see the second coming of Jesus since we can see the events described in Mat 24 including that the earthquakes and famines are occurring as birth pangs occur, that is more frequently and greater in magnitude.

Matt. 24:32 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; 33 so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. 34 “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

The growing hatred toward Christians is in fulfillment of Mat 24:9.

Matt. 24:9 “Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. 10 “At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another.

It is during this growing hatred toward Christians that the Antichrist will arise and make peace treaty with Israel and take control of the kingdom of the North.

Dan 9:27 “And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week,

He will subdue three of the 10 leaders of the dissident Moslem terrorist groups that arose from the ten nation kingdom, which is made up those nations that are presently and jointly fighting with Israel, which include Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq and Turkey.

Dan 7:24 ‘As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings.

The Antichrist will take control of the kingdom of the north.

Dan 11:21 “In his place a despicable person will arise, on whom the honor of kingship has not been conferred, but he will come in a time of tranquility and seize the kingdom by intrigue. 22 “The overflowing forces will be flooded away before him and shattered, and also the prince of the covenant. 23 “After an alliance is made with him he will practice deception, and he will go up and gain power with a small force of people.

It is at this time that Israel will be permitted to build the temple and begin sacrificing.

Dan 9:25 “So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.

The total length of time from the time that the Antichrist first arises until Jesus returns is 2300 days.

Dan 8:13 Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that particular one who was speaking, “How long will the vision about the regular sacrifice apply, while the transgression causes horror, so as to allow both the holy place and the host to be trampled?” 14 He said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the holy place will be properly restored.”

After Israel completes the temple and begins sacrificing the Antichrist breaks his peace treaty with them, captures Jerusalem and sets up the abomination of desolation.

Dan 9:27 but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”

Zech 14:2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city. 2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.

It is at this time that the great tribulation begins, which is when Jesus goes and fights against the Antichrist and his armies.

Mat 24:21 “For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.

Zech 14:3 Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.

The length of time from the time that the regular sacrifice is removed and the abomination of desolation is set up until Jesus return and the resurrection takes place is 1290 days.

Dan 12:11 “From the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.

According to Rev 11:2-3, it is at this time that the two witnesses,
This " GENERATION " That will not pass away is called the generation of the fig tree. It is the generation of Jews that were born on or after 1948. That generation is one of three lengths of generations. A 40 yr generation and a 70 yr generation and a 120 yr generation . The Generation that is being referred to is the 70 yr generation and if it started in the year 1948 and is 70 yr well ,, then that takes us to the year 2018. Think about that and all the prophesy statement and what do you come up with ?
You are behind the end times. It has already happened.

The trumpet sounded on Monday 14th July, 2003 at Daddy's bar, 440 Castro Street, San Francisco and Jesus suddenly appeared on the dance floor in the middle of the weekly underwear party.

Billed as “a must stop for those into the leather/levi/bear scene”, Daddy's was very busy and Jesus was immediately surrounded by well wishers eager to get to know him better. After sharing a number of wicked drinks, and having bought a round for everyone, Jesus disappeared,. It is believed he left in the company of Roger and Julian and rumour has it that he is now working at the Glama Rama Hair Saloon and Art Gallery. Apparently he has settled nicely. He loves the San Francisco scene and has no intention of going back to boring old heaven and being constantly pestered by Jerry Falwell.
go ahead,,take your,,time,,start from Genesis,,,go from there,,searching for answers,,searching scriptures,,trivial,,you think,,,now every thing has and ending,,in this case,,the wickedness of man,,,%26gt; how great?,,in in the balance,,,untouched,,in some places,,,sacred secrets,%26gt;%26gt;,angels want to know Too!!!,,when is this great return,,they say,,,,in their thoughts,,{:%26gt;(((,,the wicked will never know...
Jesus and God don't experience "time" the way humans do, with God...

2Pe 3:8

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Peter however is encouraging the people and reminding them of the faithfulness of God. What God has promised will come to pass. Peter's argument is that there is no difference whether a promise is near (one day in the future) or far (a thousand years in the future). God does keep His promise for He is faithful, and what God has said will come to pass in the time that has been promised for its fulfillment. God has never been late, nor will He be late!
I am certainly glad you have interest in the Bible so many do not bother. But anyways that is some deep stuff you are reading there. The original people who killed Jesus are gone but the same religions exists Their religious leaders were supposed to be loving shepherds representing a loving, merciful God. Instead, they looked down on the common people as mere rabble—and accursed!

Jesus sharply contrasted two classes: the scribes and Pharisees and the common people they oppressed. He spoke of two kinds of righteousness, the hypocritical righteousness of the Pharisees and the true righteousness of God.

(Revelation 17:3-6) .?.?.of a woman sitting upon a scarlet-colored wild beast that was full of blasphemous names and that had seven heads and ten horns. ?And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and was adorned with gold and precious stone and pearls and had in her hand a golden cup that was full of disgusting things and the unclean things of her fornication. ?And upon her forehead was written a name, a mystery: “Babylon the Great, the mother of the harlots and of the disgusting things of the earth.” ?And I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the holy ones and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus..?.?.

These men of God support wars therefore are guilty of the blood of innocent.Even pushing for wars in wartime religious people of one nation have killed religious people of another nation, even killing people of their own religion. Catholic has killed Catholic, Protestant has killed Protestant, and other religions have done the same. They oppress the people as back in Jesus time by making them feel as if God needs their money they must pay titties.

AFTER Hitler’s takeover, spirits ran high in Austria. Many hoped that his “Thousand-Year Reich” would end poverty and unemployment. Even Catholic priests, caught up in the patriotic fervor gripping the nation, gave the Hitler salute.

(Matthew 24:36-39) 36?“Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. 37?For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38?For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; 39?and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.

Jesus says he doesn't even know it is up to his father we just need to know (Zephaniah 2:2-3) .?.?., before there comes upon YOU the day of Jehovah’s anger, 3?seek Jehovah, all YOU meek ones of the earth, who have practiced His own judicial decision. Seek righteousness, seek meekness. Probably YOU may be concealed in the day of Jehovah’s anger.
that is incorrect

jesus said it would be a long time before he returned he never told them in would be in their life time

as he told his disciples in the parable in luke 19:11-27

Luke 19:11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

Luke 19:12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

Luke 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

jesus is the noble going away into a far away country (heaven) to receive a kingdom and he would return one day for his servants. He told his servants occupy til I return.

the generation was the one that would see all these signs. not the current one.

in luke 21:7-36

jesus says to them about the signs that would be before his coming he tells them in verse 12

Luke 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

he tells them before all these signs happens he tells them what will happen to them and what will happen to jerusalem that it will be destroyed.

he also tells them that israel will be scattered unto all the nations until the time of the gentiles will come to a end. Then the signs of his return will start.
"This Generation" could refer to the generation that is alive at the time the end times events commence.

The word translated as Generation could also be translated as "race" meaning the human race will not pass away until after all these events have unfolded.

It can also be translated as "age" meaning the church age which was being ushered in by Christ will not pass away until everything is fulfilled, so there are at least 3 ways Jesus' prophecy could come true and all those ways are compatible with each other so they could all come true.

Bible teachers argue over the meaning of the words “THIS GENERATION” - The English word “generation” comes directly in sound from the Greek words. The following are possibilities:

1. The words can refer to A PERIOD OF TIME.

The Jewish people in the wilderness for 40 years are referred to in Hebrew 3:10 as “that generation.” Some believe that it refers to a period of 40 years and debate over whether it should begin with Israel becoming a nation in 1948 (Obviously this view is incorrect!) or with the taking of the Old City of Jerusalem in 1967.

Others believe that it refers to a 40 year period between the time that Jesus spoke these words and the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD (often called the “preterist view”).

Some Bible teachers have argued that the length of a person’s life (stated to be 70 or possibly 80 years) is what is meant - this gives them a bit more leeway in trying to fit the words with their particular viewpoint.

2. The words refer to A RACE OF PEOPLE.

The Greek words certainly are used that way (both in the Bible and in extra-Biblical sources). The primary (from the standpoint of history) view concerning a “race of people” is that it refers to the Jewish people to whom Jesus was speaking. This view supports the idea mentioned above, that it was fulfilled in 70 AD with the destruction of Jerusalem. The point that these words refer to the Jewish people is very likely the most adequate and accurate view. Matthew 23:36, in fact, uses the words “THIS GENERATION” in exactly that way!

Those who believe that these words express some sort of change in God’s relationship with Israel and the Jewish people believe that the Church has now replaced Israel in God’s prophetic program due to their rejection of Jesus as their Messiah.

Added to this, in the passage in Matthew 16:28 which says: “Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in His kingdom.” It would appear at first reading that the coming of God’s judgment is meant, and that those listening to Jesus at that time would not die until it happened!

However, the Greek text (which originally had no chapter divisions!) continues (Matthew 17:1) with the word “AND” - and the next few verses prove that the ones who would not die until they saw the glory of the Messiah revealed are Peter, James, and John at what is call the Mount of Transfiguration. In II Peter 1:16-18 Peter refers to this event and says that there “eyewitnesses of His majesty” and says it was on the “holy mount.”

I believe that considered in the light of various promises and covenants God made with Israel, the best interpretation of the words “THIS GENERATION” is that it refers to the Nation of Israel and therefore, THIS GENERATION (the Nation of Israel) will not pass away, until everything our Lord Jesus described for the future takes place.
