I love how most people didn't get the point of your question LOL
Maybe he was out kissing some Family Feud chicks ;)

I just went to my local bookstore and guess what I saw?You must live in a town like mine! Very midewestern, very christian, very weird...
Damn, dude. Where do you live?I just went to my local bookstore and guess what I saw?
So that goes to show you.
Holy cow.... Did you complain to the manager ?

MAYBE YOU SHOULD LOOK IN THE FICTION SECTION.
CARRY ON.
I smiled a great big smile when I read this question. I live in the deep south good ol'USA... so I hear you!
Not only do most of the secular stores here have a HUGE Christian lit section but Christian books are dispersed evenly throughout all of the other sections as well. James Dobson Focus on the Family books and the like make up 50% of the psychology section, books like "The Lie: Evolution," "Creation Science," "How God Made Your Body," and "Biology Through The Eyes of Faith" make up about 40% of the science section. And there is a huge Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe display in the childrens' fiction section.
I guess you found few, if any, Richard Dawkins books. I have to buy mine via amazon.
It's true. Big Bucks win over ideals in America. But how else is a shop keeper to survive? Not many people are very interested in Science, much less understand it.
Probably not. I can understand your frustration. I am a sci-fi fan, but there isn't much science fiction in either the book stores or libraries around here either.
I would guess that the bookstores in your area carry whatever categories that sell the most. Apparently where you live the Christian books are the "best sellers."
Make your interests known to the store owners. Better yet, ask them to order a particular book you want to buy.
That's nice.
At least up where I live the science sections are much larger than the religion ones...
And in your shoes, I'd only get books off the internet....
That is a good book store!!! You might try reading some of that christian literature and apply it in your life. I did and I now am off drugs raising my 5 year old on my own and have a house to live in with food, lights, water, heat and air. Seriously dude God is great.
Jesus loves you.
I went to Barnes and Noble looking for 'The God Delusion".
The only Dawkins they had was a biology book. That was way way way over my simple Texas girls head.
That is such a lie
OH you were in the religon section....duh
science isnt religon....its science
They're just selling what people want to buy. They're in it to make profit, not to challenge people's beliefs.
Really... ? I found about 5 shelves full of SEX books...! And a lot of them had real pictures of naked people --- whoo hoo...! After that, I ended up drunk on the floor with the book "69 positions to Please Your Man" -- the night watchman had to drag me out of there!!!!
Damn!
: )
xoxox
: )
That's sad lol. Well over here there is a big section for Christianity and then for religion, but they have just as much science, so that is surprising.
They just put on the shelves what sells, and unfortunately it's Christianity. I hope your town can see that science is real (lol, to even think someone thinks it's fake is insane).
What did the self help section look like?
That's the way it was in my town until I started asking for occult books, literature, classics, science. Now they carry everything. The local library here specializes in romance novels and westerns. Everything worth reading from our public library has to be borrowed from another library.
Our local radio stations are controlled by the Baptist church. They don't own them, but they do have the power here. Big money people in their churches force business owners to comply to their wishes.
Ten full shelves of FICTION?
Wow...thats a great bookstore!
Bookstores... I love them, but they're messed up. I mean you should see the religion section of my Barnes and Noble. Twenty shelves of Christianity, and then all the other religions are jammed into half a shelf, while as always, my religion is shoved into a shelf labeled "new-age". Ew.
But luckily they make up for it slightly because at least they carry everything, and have a rather large section devoted to science.
My guess would be no. And either we live in the same town or this is the norm.
I had to order my Dawkin's books on-line.
Yet if I wanted to know how to cook like a Christian, exercise like a Christian or have sex like a Christian my local bookstore could accommodate me just fine.
Hey, we JUST got Pagan/Witchcraft/Wiccan books up there. You gotta request, get petitions signed, whatever. If it's Books a Million, don't hold your breath -- they are owned by a particular group that wants to edit everyone's thoughts, books, television, etc until it is entirely their own country. (The same people who give you a "thumbs down" simply because of your screenname, LOL.)
In the meantime, Amazon.com has a pretty good selection at a great price.
sounds likeour local public library, but at least they lump it in with the rest of the mythology and folklore.
It would depend on where you live. Marketing provides you stock what sells.
let me take a wild guess.... NO!?
I wish we had a book store like that around here. Meanwhile have you ever heard of www.bn.com?
