I'm about to call my manager....
I worked at a CHRISTIAN bookstore and back in Feb., I cut my hand with a shard of glass. We tried for about an hour or two at work to get the glass out of my hand (It was small.... like a splinter of glass), but we couldn't get it out. The general manager was off that day, and the assistant manager didn't know how to handle workers comp stuff, so he told me to go to the doctor and bring the bill back with me. We wrote a letter to the manager and left it on his desk, the next time I worked, he told me he'd take care of it. Well, the dr's office didn't send out the bill until about a month later. The OSHA and HR people knew it as well.
So, in early Apr., I turned in my 2 weeks notice because I just could not stand my jerk boss. I brought in the dr's bill on my last day. Well, when I got there, the ***'t mgr asked why I was there b/c the manager had gotten mad about my quitting and taken me off the schedule (w/o telling me!). More info in a sec.Workers Comp issues....?
By Law they have to pay for the bill plus time off!
The best thing to do is get a lawyer and only gets paid if you do and let them handle it. That's what I had to do and I got my bills paid plus time off and back pay!
Good Luck Sweetie!!Workers Comp issues....?
You should have gone through HR from the get-go. Managers aren't trained to do this stuff. That is HR's job.
